After World War II, the promise of veteran benefits andAmerican citizenship, made by President Roosevelt during the fight against Japan to veteran Filipinos, was taken away from them through the signing of The Rescission Act of 1946 by President Truman. This caused great conflict which Truman later tried to repeal, but a compromise was not accomplished until many years later. This compromise was a small piece of a large problem that hurt the Filipino legacy of important history.
